The large (4.5 m high) bronze statue was unveiled in Warsaw on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Adam Mickiewicz. Like many other monuments, the original monument did not survive the war - it was dismantled and transported to the territory of the Third Reich. After the end of the war, the Poles wanted to regain it. However, it was almost completely destroyed, which is why its faithful copy was created.
As Adam Mickiewicz was one of the most important poets in the history of Poland, there are two other monuments in Warsaw. They can be found at the main entrance to the Palace of Culture and Science and at the 4th High School bearing the name of this bard.Less
