The orthodox church of Saint Nicholas in Szczecin is an orthodox parish church and a co-cathedral church. The most significant antiques include the main iconostasis, auxiliary iconostasis, wall paintings, and the dome. Valuable historical treasures are also the relics of the Byzantine Youths, Saint Nicholas, Saint Maxim Sandovich, and Saint Ignacy of Jabłeczna. In 2004, the construction of a new church building has began. It was built on the plan of the Greek cross in the Byzantine style. It was completed and consecrated in 2011.
The old Szczecin orthodox church was built in the 1960s. Currently, in the left part of the building a photo studio is situated, while the right part is managed by the Szczecin Pentecostal congregation Betania. In the equipment from the old church, neo-Baroque tsarist gates from the church in Gródek near Hrubieszów, placed in the main iconostas, and icons from the church in Zdynia in the Low Beskid deserve attention. This equipment has been brought by Orthodox repatriates from the eastern borderlands (Kresy).Less
