It is the largest cultural institution in the West Pomeranian region. There are over 150,000 exhibits in museum collections which are located in six buildings. In the main building visitors can see numerous temporary exhibitions and four permanent exhibitions. The exhibition "Antique Roots of Europe" contains the largest collection of antique bronze sculptures in Europe. Two other exhibitions are dedicated to African culture, and the last one presents the West Pomeranian mintage since the 12th to 19th century.
The main branch of the museum is located in a building from the beginning of the 20th century, built in a combination of modernist and Art Nouveau style. Visitors can also explore the tower of the building (together with the cupola it measures 54 meters in height), from which is a wonderful view of the city and its surroundings. Furthermore, on the first floor of the building since the 1930s, the Contemporary Theatre (Współczesny Theatre) has been located.Less
