Classic Palace from the 18th century. Once upon a time important personalities such as Tadeusz Kościuszko, Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz, Franciszek Karpiński and even King Stanisław August Poniatowski used to be there. Since 2001, it has been the seat of the authorities of the Podlasie Academy. There are mainly lectures and scientific conferences. The building is a showcase of the city, it also has cultural functions.
The building was commissioned by Fryderyk Michał Czartoryski. His daughter rebuilt it, changing it to classical. Thanks to her, a garden called "Alexandria" was created, today transformed into an ordinary city park.
During World War II, the Palace was burned as a result of hostilities. It was rebuilt, but never returned to its original state. After 2000, the building underwent a thorough renovation. A monument commemorating those killed in the struggle for national liberation during the war was set up in the courtyard.
Currently, the whole has been adapted to the needs of the university.
