Zdzislaw Beksiński Monument

Local name: Pomnik Zdzisława Beksińskiego

The unveiled monument of the eminent artist Zdzisław Beksiński from Sanok is located in the heart of the city - on the market square. The creator of the bronze monument is Adam Przybysz. The life-size sculpture gives the impression as if the Master walking around his hometown stopped for a moment in front of the building No. 14. In 2011, the trail "Traces of the Beksiński Family" was marked out in Sanok, and the market with the monument is part of it.

Zdzisław Beksiński was born on February 24, 1929 in a family known for generations associated with Sanok. In 1977, the artist moved with his relatives to Warsaw. His will was that his hometown of Sanok would contain the largest collection of his works. The impressive legacy of this multi-talented artist can be seen today in the Sanok Historical Museum.

The artist was murdered on February 21, 2005 in his Warsaw apartment. He rests in a family tomb at the Sanok cemetery.
