The Regional Museum is located on the 3 May street, inside the historic 17th century building which used to be a part of the Piarist monastery complex. It consisted of male school, the Holy Cross Church and the monastery - currently the main building of the museum. The museum collection is divided into Archeology, Art and History sections. The Art Conservation Office can also be found there.
Apart from the main branch, the institution consists of Museum of Rzeszów History, Janusz Przyboś Biographical Museum and Ethnographic Museum which has the largest collection in southeastern Poland that is related to the Slavic settlement between the 6th and 7th century.The museum operates since 1935 but in the present building, it functions since the 1950s. The interiors have a unique atmosphere, dominant monuments are baroque polychromes and the 17th century paintings. The first director of the museum was Franciszek Kotula - famous historian, ethnographer, author of pioneer works about Rzeszów types of folk costumes.Less
