Church of Christ the King

Local name: Kościół Chrystusa Króla

The church was built in the 1930s and is the center of Christ the King Roman Catholic parish in Rzeszów. The initiators were lecturers and students of the Male Seminar of Teaching. The author of this project was Witold Rawski. The church was entered in the register of objects of cultural heritage.

Józef Jałowy, the priest and catechist of the Male Seminar of Teaching, got the permission for construction of Rzeszów's church from Pope Pius XI. In order to get the blessing, Jałowy went on a long journey to Rome in 1937.

The project's style refers to Italian classicism. The characteristic parts are the large dome towering over the building structure, straight-line facade, symmetry and moderate decorating. Small rooms used for fraternities and associations meeting were built under the church.
