Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Legend has it, once in the place of basilica wooden chapel and then church were standing. It is said that they were built after Mother of God revealed to poor Jakub Abo on 15 August 1513. The construction of brick church started in 1610 on the initiative of Mikołaj Spytek Ligęza, owner of Rzeszów and zealous worshiper of Mary.

The wooden figure of Madonna with the Child, the most important part of the basilica, was carved in the Veit Stoss Cracow school circle. Discovered in 1513, it was initially located in revelation place in the wooden chapel. The basilica's presbytery consists of eight alabaster orant-like monuments of Ligęza family. This is the most numerous collection of alabaster orants in Europe. The interiors of the basilica are dominated by late baroque equipment.
