Old Market Square in Poznań is the third biggest market square in Poland and one of the biggest in Europe. It has a shape of the almost perfect square. Numerous monuments and interesting places can be found there: Town Hall - a pearl of Renaissance architecture from the 16th century, the city scales, picturesque tenement houses, Budnicy houses, and the Arsenal Gallery.
The middle part of the square consists of famous Town Hall with Ponań goats. It's worth to come during noon when trumpet call is played and two tin goats which funnily butt heads show up. Moreover, the city scales - a one-story building where goods used to be weight - is located nearby. The Greater Poland Military Museum, the Arsenal Gallery and guardhouse can also be found there.The frontages architecture mainly consists of picturesque tenement houses. They serve as apartments and as shops, restaurants, cafes, and pubs in lower stories. The Mielżyńscy Family Palace is located on the northern frontage while the Działyńscy Family Palace can be found on the western frontage.Less
