Museum of the History of Poznań is situated in a historic, Renaissance town hall. It occupies rooms on the ground floor and two floors. Part of them is interesting in itself, due to the well preserved Renaissance and baroque polychrome. Museum presents history of Poznań from the 13th century till 1954. Among the most precious exhibits are: 13th century crosier from Limognes, 16th century table clock with the city's coat of arms and a baroque glass of shoemakers' guild.
Town Hall of Poznań owes its look to the reconstruction, that was made in the middle of the 16th century by Italian architect - Jan Baptiste Quadro. After the Second World War it was destined to be the seat of the Museum of the History of Poznań.It shows the history of the city, focusing mostly on the life of its community. Not only official documents, engravings and paintings have been gathered here, but also everyday life's items used by the brotherhoods and organizations acting in the city. The most representative Royal Hall is dedicated to the exhibition related to "the golden age" of Poznań in the Renaissance period. Much space has been devoted to the period of partitions and fighting for Polish identity. The closing part of exhibition consists of the pictures of destruction after the Second World War.
