Działyński Palace is among the most monumental buildings standing next to the Market Square in Poznań. Baroque-classicist palace has a huge facade with tympanum and lesenes. Its adornment is a chamber on the first floor decorated with a stucco decoration. A branch of Kórnicka Library is located in the palace.
A residence was built in the beginning of the seventies of the eighteenth century. It was a property of a Great Lithuanian Marshall Władysław Gurowski. Its subsequent owners were: Działyńscy and Zamoyscy. Only in the end of 18th century, building gained an impressive facade. It is divided by lesenes that imitate columns. They are supporting a triangle tympanum, upon which an attic with bas-reliefs showing antique scenes is placed. In the backyard of the palace it used to be a garden. An entrance gate, through which the carriages were coming, is still standing until today. Działyński Palace is a property of Polish Academy of Sciences.Less
