Collegium Minus is a neo-renaissance building of the Royal Academy in Poznań. Nowadays there is a Rector’s office and an auditorium of the University of Adam Mickiewicz. Built at the beginning of 20th century, the Academy’s residence has a high facade - decorated with portico and a high, ornamented building front - which is flanked by two towers. The most important hall is an Auditory, famous for its great acoustics. Every five years, it serves as an arena of musicians contest during the Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition.
A building of the Royal Academy was built based on German tenements and palaces of the Renaissance age. In a well seen, round, flat finished tower an observatory was supposed to be placed. In a Small Auditory located there, one can see a copy of a painting of Jan Matejko “Establishing of Lubrański Academy”. A corridor is decorated with busts of individuals distinguished for their contribution to the Polish culture and the University. In the Auditory, the most important university ceremonies take place. It is also being used as a concert hall, where Poznań Nightingales sing and where concerts of local and invited orchestras of musicians happen.Less
