Citadel Park

Local name: Park Cytadela

Park Cytadela is the largest open reserve park in Poznań. It's located in the area of former Prussian Fort Winiary. Apart from recreational space, gardens, and amphitheater, the park consists of several municipal and military cemeteries, the Museum of Armaments, the Museum of Poznań Army, old fortifications and numerous sculptures including "Unidentified" by Magdalena Abakonowicz.

The park was built in the second half of the 1960s in the former military areas. Several cemeteries can be found here. The municipal one belongs to the parish of Saint Adalbert where graves of participants of the January Uprising are placed. The rest objects are of military character. The cemetery of Soviet Soldiers with the tall obelisk can be accessed by monumental stairs.

Souvenirs after the fortifications are military objects such as redoubt, locks, one of the bastions and ravelin. The outdoor exhibition of military vehicles and equipment presented by the Museum of Armaments can be found in front of the former artillery laboratory. A headquarters of the Museum of Poznań Army is also situated in the park.

Park Cytadela is a local place of leisure. It has rosarium, a lot of walking tracks, picnic areas and food courts.
