Botanic Garden

The Botanical Garden in Poznań belongs to Adam Mickiewicz University. Apart from being a botanical garden, it also serves as a public park. It consists of rich collections of plants from different corners of the world such as alpine plants, orchids, rare species from Madagascar and the Canary Islands. The garden is a very picturesque place and is popular among tourists and inhabitants.

The Botanical Garden in Poznań was established in the interwar period. It's one of largest open space reserves in the city. It's located in the quiet and leafy district called Gardens.

The garden consists of the plant collections grown outdoor and inside special greenhouses. Plants come from different climates. Jewels of the place are the orchid garden and collection of cactus and succulents. Species from African islands - Madagascar and Canary Islands - can also be admired here.

Another interesting place is the alpine garden. It contains plants from different mountain climates from all over the world. The largest collections are related to the Tatras and the Carpathian Mountains. Apart from terrestrial plants, the garden is overgrown with water and marsh plants which inhabit ponds. Numerous walking tracks equipped with benches can be found the park.
