Local name: Muzeum Archeologiczne

The Archaeological Museum in Poznań is located in the Górka Palace. There are archaeological collections from all over Poland as well as from outside Europe. The exhibits collected come from all time periods. Furthermore, the facility is involved in the educational activities, historic preservation, and preservation of the archaeological heritage.

The exhibits from the Stone Age are mainly stone agricultural tools, but also ceramic products or small items used in weaving. Bronze Age exhibits include bronze, stone, and flint items, as well as ceramics and bones.

At the exhibition presenting the Lusatian culture, visitors can admire clay dishes, bronze or iron items. Exhibits familiarizing with the Pomeranian culture are mainly decorations - spiral bracelets, earrings, pendants and clasps, as well as interesting cinerary urn with a plastic representation of the face elements.

Collections from the pre-Roman, Roman, and migration period are items found in the places of former settlements and cemeteries. Museum exhibits from the Middle Ages and modern era concern mainly the early Piast state.

In the museum visitors can also see non-European collections and a collection of numismats. Additional attractions have been prepared for children in the form of various workshops, museum lessons, as well as the Maya glyph writing workshop.
