The Płock Cathedral is the oldest temple in the city and the resting place of two Polish rulers - Władysław Herman and his son Bolesław Krzywousty. The building was destroyed and renovated many times. We owe the current appearance to the renovation that took place in 1900. Inside there are many valuable monuments, which include, among others, numerous stalls, a replica of the Płock door, stained glass and tombstones.
The church has many altars arranged in chapels, aisles, presbytery and transept. The windows have beautiful stained glass windows. The replica of the Płock door deserves special attention. They were divided into quarters, which depict biblical scenes and scenes from the life of Jesus Christ. For unknown reasons, the 12th-century original is contained in the Cathedral of St. Zofia in Russia.
The cathedral has the Royal Chapel, and in its underground lies the remains of Polish rulers and 15 Mazovian princes. There is also a cathedral treasury, which once belonged to the richest in the country. You can see many valuable exhibits, such as the hermitage of St. Zuzanna, or canned Chervil.
