The medieval towers and city walls ovally surrounding Paczków preserved to this day in a great condition. The walls were built from stone rubble in the 14th century and have 1200 m. This former defensive object is an attraction on a national scale.
The history of the city walls dates back to the 14th century but because of the bad technical condition, they were partially demolished in 1429. They were rebuilt at the beginning of the 16th century. 19 of 24 towers with many original lancet holes survived to this day. The most interesting are Bramna Kłodzka, Ząbkowicka, and Wrocławska which were important elements of defensive infrastructure.Visitors can use tourists trails which go through the Paczków's walls or explore towers. The main route is 77 m long and 1,5 m wide. Another attraction is the roofed walking alley on the top of Nyska Gate. Thanks to the good condition of structures, Paczków is known as Polish Carcassonne.Less
