Otmuchowskie Lake is a storage reservoir built in 1928-33 on the Nysa Kłodzka River in the vicinity of the city of Otmuchów. Together with the Kozielno and Tola reservoirs and Lake Nyskie, it forms the so-called Cascades of the Nysa Kłodzka river.
The lake area is inhabited by numerous species of birds. It is a unique habitat of the gray heron on a national scale. In addition, there are white fish, grebes, little bitterns, red-necked and black-necked loons. You can also see marsh harriers, lapwings, and dandelions.
The construction of the dam that created the lake was related to the commissioning of a hydroelectric power plant. Unlike most structures of this type, the power plant is not located behind the dam, but on the side of the reservoir. The building has the form of a 100-meter hall with a steel skeleton and partially glazed walls.
