Lake Nyskie is a storage reservoir built on the Nysa Kłodzka River in the vicinity of the city of Otmuchów. It was created as a result of the construction of a dam, which was erected in 1971. The dam is 2 km long and 20 m wide. On the north-eastern shore of the lake there are natural sandy beaches, holiday resorts and marinas.
In the vicinity of Lake Nyskie there is Lake Otmuchowskie. Both reservoirs form the Protected Landscape Area. There are numerous species of birds in their area, such as the black-capped gull, herring gull, common tern, great egret, lapwing and curlew. There are also many fish in the lake, including zander, pike, perch and bream.
As a curiosity, it is worth mentioning that the area on which the lake was created used to be largely covered by forest. There was also the village of Brzezina Polska, the history of which dates back to at least the thirteenth century - it was mentioned in a Latin book written in the years 1295-1305.
