St. Hedwig's Bastion in Nysa is the last remnant of the so-called 10 old-Dutch bastions. It's located in the Cultural and Natural Park of Nysa Castle. Nowadays, it operates as a cultural facility. It consists of an interesting tourist trail complemented by exhibitions presenting the history of this place and area.
The bastion served various purposes throughout the years. In the beginning, it was a laboratory where ammunition was stored. Later, it operated as a prison which held 500 French prisoners of war. At last, it was turned into barracks.The facility organizes frequent temporary exhibitions on the subject of interesting remnants from the past. There is also a shop with souvenirs. Numerous dance and music parties, and also thematic vernissages and out-door exhibitions take place on the courtyard.Less
