The largest church in the city of Nysa is St. Basil's Basilica. James the Apostle and St. Agnieszka, Virgin and Martyrs. The history of the Basilica dates back to the 12th century. The temple is connected with a huge fragment of the history of Opole. There are many sacred art works and numerous burial sites for important personalities. For this reason, the Basilica was declared a monument of history.

Basilica of Sts. Jakub and Agnieszka in Nysa were built in Gothic style, whose elements are visible both from the outside and inside the temple. The body of the church is really huge - the pillars supporting its vaults measure up to 27 meters!

In the interior of the basilica you can see the Neo-Gothic main altar, the baroque confessional, the late Gothic baptismal font, and a number of old paintings dating back to the 15th century.

The first temple in the place of today's basilica is associated with a legend, whose roots date back to 1000. According to reports, a resident of the settlement of Nysa Jakub and his wife Angieszka contributed to the construction of a small wooden church that broke the pagan traditions of this place and gave rise to further extensions.
