Former German penal investigative camp functioning during World War II. First of all Poles, but also Soviet prisoners of war and refugees from forced labor, German deserters from Wehrmacht, Luxembourgers, Dutch, Hungarians, Slovaks, and US citizens were imprisoned here.
The camp was created in April 1943 near the former brickyard. The placement in Żabikowo was primarily determined by the charge of hostile activity against the Third Reich. Here, after a series of interrogations and investigations, prisoners waited for the issuing or execution of sentences. Those sentenced to stay in the camps were taken to concentration camps.
The museum area is about 3 ha and stretches for almost 0.5 km along the A2 motorway. It is commemorated with monuments related to the martyrdom of Poles, Jews, Luxembourgers, Dutch, citizens of the former Soviet Union and other nationalities.
