Survivor's Park

Local name: Park Ocalałych

Park-symbol, commemorating people living in the "Łódź Ghetto" which was one of the places where the plan of Nazi extermination of Jews was carried out during World War II. Among the walking alleys, a monument of Poles saving Jews during World War II and the Memorial Mound have been located. In 2009, Marek Edelman's Centre of Dialogue, where educational activities and conferences take place, was established in the Park of Survivors .

The park was opened on 30th August, 2004, on the 60th anniversary of the decommissioning of the Łódź ghetto. The Park of Survivors was designed by architects: Grażyna Ojrzyńska and Monika Michnowska. The area of ​​the park is 8.5 hectares. In the Park there is a monument (a boulder) commemorating the tragic events of years 1940-1944 that took place in the Ghetto in Łódź.

The initiator of the Park of Survivors in Łódź was Mrs. Halina Elczewska, who was the first to plant her "memory tree" from among 418 survivors of the Holocaust who came to Łódź for the opening of the Park in 2004.
