Łódź Philharmonic

Local name: Filharmonia Łódzka im. A. Rubinsteina

The Łódź Philharmonic is famous for its pipe organs which consist of two parts: Baroque organs (1,600 pipes) and Romantic organs (3,500 pipes). It is the only such instrument in Europe. It allows to perform works from the Romantic and Baroque eras in the same tone as their composers heard them.

The building, where the Łódź Philharmonic is currently located, was built in 2004. It won the second prize in the "Construction of the Year 2004" competition and the Association of Polish Architects award for the best architectural object built from public funds.

In style building refers to its predecessor, the Ignacy Vogel's Musical House, a 19th-century building where the new headquarters of the philharmonic was established. Modern interior, is equipped with panoramic elevators, glass walls, underground garage, a hotel for performers. Philharmonic is comprised of two concert halls: large for 650 people and small for 120 people.
