The ultra-modern Planetarium EC1 has been located in the revitalised building of the former EC1 East electrical power and heating plant. In this place, shows of the Solar System and space exploration are presented, as well as artistic and cultural events are held. In 2016, Planetarium EC1 took first place in the prestigious competition "7 New Wonders of Poland" organized by the month periodical "National Geographic Traveler".
Under the dome with a diameter of 18 m there is a spherical screen with a diameter of 14 meters. The advanced projection with resolution of 8K is emitted from six high-resolution projectors. Impression of reception is enhanced by 5.1 surround dolby sound.The facility has a database of the entire Solar System, catalogues of galaxies, including smaller bodies such as dwarf planets, asteroids, comets and millions of stars.The subject matter of popular science shows is very diverse, it concerns the development of astronautics, history, present and the future of space exploration.
