Rose's Passage in Łódź is a passage from the street Piotrkowska 3 to Zachodnia street, where the facades of the outbuildings are lined with millions of little mirrors in irregular shapes. During summertime you can see performances by musicians and artists. The passage conduces organizing small theatrical performances.
The originator of the installation is Joanna Rajkowska, who created the mosaic backyard in 2013 during the "Łódź of Four Cultures" Festival. The "Rose's Passage" created by the artist has a very personal relevancy and it refers to the illness of her daughter, Rose. In 2012, Rose fell ill with eye cancer. The installation is an expression of the artist's joy at the news of her daughter's recovery.A group of students from the Faculty of Graphic Arts and Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts took part in the project implementation. The "Rose's Passage" was co-financed as part of the "Mia100 Kamienic" project. At the time of completing the project, it was the largest mirror mosaic in Poland.Less
