The former palace of Przemyśl bishops houses the Podkarpackie Museum. The region is famous for the oil and glass industry, to which a significant part of the exhibition is devoted. You can see a collection of about 900 kerosene lamps from around the world and eras, and souvenirs of the pioneer of the oil industry, Ignacy Łukasiewicz. There are also the first sets of utility glass produced in Krosno and art glass collections, which are the work of local steelworks known for their unique design.
In the rich collections of the archeological, historical and artistic department you can admire, among others relics of medieval city fortifications, a 13th-century sword, a 14th-century sculpture of the Virgin Mary with a Child, and a unique 19th-century piano from a Paris workshop that supplied instruments to Chopin himself.
Opened in 1954, the Museum conducts educational, research and publishing activities. Has a branch - Archaeological Museum of the Carpathian Troja in Trzcinica.
