Market Square in Krosno

Local name: Rynek w Krośnie

The rectangular Krosno market is surrounded by tenement houses built between the 15th and 17th centuries. Some have magnificent arcades built during the heyday of the city called "little Krakow". One of the oldest in the Podkarpackie region, the 15th-century tenement house No. 7 called Wójtowska, with a rich stone portal, is exceptionally impressive. Renovated tenement facades, atmospheric lanterns and numerous cafes encourage you to visit the market.

There is a tourist information point in the former seat of the municipal authorities at number 5. Also Kamienica Pod Zegarem - Rynek 1 once served as the town hall. Rynek 27, in turn, is the house of Portius, a wealthy townsman and merchant who embellished and expanded the tenement house. An interesting fact is the seemingly early Renaissance tenement house No. 12 - the work of the famous architect from the turn of the century, Jan Sas - Zubrzycki.

On the market square, you can see the outline of the horizontal projection of the Renaissance town hall and the 14th-century Wójtowski House below the surface.
