Church of the Holy Trinity (Stolarska Street)

Local name: Kościół św. Trójcy (ul. Stolarska)

Church Holy Trinity is connected to the convent of the Dominican Fathers. It is also a double sanctuary of the Mother of God of the Rosary and Saint Jacek Odrowąż. The impressive building in the Gothic style has three naves and ten chapels (built between the fourteenth and seventeenth centuries). Inside the church, note the magnificent pillar-slope vault.

In the main nave, next to the altar, Prince Leszek the Black (who died in 1288) is buried. The most interesting monuments include organs from the late nineteenth century, manufactured by the Rieger Brothers, equipped with 30 pipes. They are a valuable and interesting example of romantic organ construction, and still retain their original sound concept to this day.

The history of this church dates back to 1222, when the Dominicans were brought to Krakow. In the mid-nineteenth century, the beautiful church was almost completely destroyed in a fire. The fire consumed the entire interior and also caused the vault to collapse. After reconstruction, in 1884, the church was consecrated, and since 1957 it has been a minor basilica.
