The unique painting by Rembrandt "Landscape with the Merciful Samaritan" is one of only a few oily landscapes of this famous Dutch painter, and at the same time one of the most important examples of European painting in Polish collections.
This picture uniquely combines the biblical parable of the Good Samaritan with the Dutch landscape. On the one hand, it presents universal Christian values (love of neighbor and mercy), and on the other hand, it shows elements of everyday reality of the 17th century Holland, such as windmills and a carriage. The landscape was created in 1638, it was brought to Poland at the end of the 18th century, and at the beginning of the 19th century it was included in the Czartoryski family collection.Less
