Florianska Street

Local name: Ulica Floriańska

Floriańska Street is one of the main streets in the Old Town of Krakow. It stretches 335 m from the Main Square to the Florian Gate, from which it is named. The street was marked out in the second half of the 13th century and was one of the first paved with cobblestones. It is part of the Royal Route of Krakow.

At the end of the 15th century, most of the buildings along Floriańska Street were made of brick. They belonged mainly to wealthy bourgeois families and nobility. At the end of the 18th century, more and more inns, hotels, restaurants and museums began to appear here. Today, it also houses shops, boutiques, restaurants and clubs.

Among the buildings standing on the street, about 20 historic tenement houses have been preserved, the history of which dates back to the 15th-16th centuries. Among them there are Kamienica pod Barankiem and Kamienica pod Święta Tekla.
