The Archdiocesan Museum in Katowice is located in the building of the Bishop's Palace. The museum presents collections of religious art and exhibits documenting the history of the Catholic church and Upper Silesia. One of the most valuable and most interesting exhibits in the Museum is the tapestry by Rafael.
The museum has several permanent exhibitions, including an exhibition of contemporary sacred art. It is the only permanent exhibition in Poland about such topics. Other permanent exhibitions include: an exhibition of Silesian and European sacred art, a poster gallery and religious artwork, an art cabinet from the turn of the 19th and 20th century, and a chapel with a stained-glass window made according to the design of Stanisław Wyspiański. The museum also organizes temporary exhibitions.Regular concerts take place in the Museum's halls. Art Gallery "Fra Angelico" also works at the Museum.Less
