Kopa chairlift

Local name: Kolej linowa na Kopę

The oldest active ski lift in Poland transports tourists from Karpacz to Kopa since 1960. It is 2278m long and its elevation difference is 530m. 160 one-person seats are installed on the line hanged on 24 supports. The lift is able to transport 461 passengers within one hour, what means that it moves with a little over 8km/h.

The first transit to Kopa was reserved only for "the chosen ones'". On 22 July 1959, during the National Revival of Poland Day which was celebrated then, a group of party members took a ride in the lift. It was opened for tourists on 1st January 1960. It was the longest chairlift then.

The first big modernization the lift underwent in 1990 when the supports were elevated and stronger engine and new line were installed. Using the lift is the easiest way to Śnieżka from Karpacz. The ride takes about one hour - 15min waiting in a queue and 50min of the 2,5km ride from Kopa to Śnieżka.
