Jankowice Palace

Local name: Pałac w Jankowicach

The palace in Jankowice is the oldest example of romantic classicism architecture in Wielkopolska. Built at the beginning of the 19th century, the building is surrounded by a large park, through which a walking route was led.

The palace in Janowice was built at the beginning of the 19th century for the family of Wawrzyniec Engestrom, and expanded almost 100 years later. In the interwar period, the owners of the time, the Kwilecki family, hosted many contemporary politicians, diplomats and people of culture. Among them was the later French president Charles de Gaulle. After World War II, the palace was destroyed. It was not until around 2015 that it was finally taken over by the local commune, which began renovation. It was intended for the seat of the Local Government Music School.

The palace is a multi-storey building, covered with a flat roof. On both sides of the main body there are storey projections, with windows decorated with columns. The palace has an extensive terrace from the garden side. Around the building there is a park of almost 20 hectares. Its ornament is a pond with four islands. This picturesque place has also been recently renovated. A walking path led through the shady alleys.
