The Loretto House is today part of the Church of the Holy Mother of God. St. Francis in Głogówek and is located in the northern part of his transept. The Baroque building is a copy of the House of the Virgin of Loreto in Italy. It is the oldest such building in Poland. The two-room chalet is covered by painting decorations made in the 18th century by Francis Sebastini.
A copy of the House of the Virgin of Loreto was built by Jerzy Oppersdor in Głogówek. The Loreto building was supposed to be moved from Nazareth in the Holy Land according to legend. It was originally located within the monastery buildings, near the walls that surrounded it. During the reconstruction of the church of Sts. Francis after the war 30 years old chapel was encircled by transept walls and covered with a roof. The "church in the church" was created in this way, a building that is an element of Poland.
The Loretto House is a small, rectangular, Baroque building. It is divided into two rooms. The exterior walls are decorated with decorations that imitate the architectural elements. The interior covers the illusionist polychrome of the seventeenth century. They depict scenes from the life of the little Jesus and the Holy Family and the transfer of Our Lady of Nazareth to Loreto.
