Church of St. Bartholomew

Local name: Kościół św. Bartłomieja

The church Bartłomiej in Głogówek is a Gothic, two-tower temple with baroque interior design. In the past, she served as a collegiate church. Inside, there are valuable polychromies by Franciszek Sebastini and the tomb of Oppersdorff, with the 17th century tomb of Jerzy II.

The collegiate church in Głogówek was built in the mid-fourteenth century. It obtained its current shape as a result of reconstruction after the Hussite wars. In the 18th century, the facade was further transformed by adding two polygonal towers. The interior of the temple is in the Baroque style. The polychromes depicting scenes from the life of Saint Bartholomew were created by the Moravian artist Franciszek Sebastini, who was active in the 17th century in Głogówek. The main altar representing the martyrdom of the church's patron comes from the same period.

The collegiate church in Głogówek was the resting place of representatives of the Oppersdorf family. The tomb of George II from the first half of the 17th century, made of black and pink marble, has survived in their chapel.
