Archdiocesan Museum in Gdańsk is located in the former Cistercian monastery. It consists of the rich collection of sacral art and the renovated interior of the 12th-century building.
The original aim of Archdiocesan Museum in Gdańsk was to exhibit sacral art, mainly paintings, sculptures, and handicrafts. Years later, administrators of the museum also decided to renovate the building itself which is an extremely valuable monument - the oldest monastery in Pomerelia.The chapter house, refectory, Hall of Peace of Oliva, and St. Mary's Chapel were opened to the public after the renovation works. Pieces of sacral art were moved to the lavabo. The oldest and most valuable parts of the former Cistercian monastery can be explored in the summer season.Less
