Chapel of the Virgin Mary in Studzieniczna

The chapel is located on the island which has been connected with land by the man-made levee. The miraculous painting of Our Lady of Studzieniczna, which is a copy of Our Lady of Częstochowa, can be seen inside.

The chapel was built in the 1770s in the place of the previous wooden chapel. The building has a shape of the octagonal rotunda and was constructed in Renaissance style. The Church of Scapular Virgin Mary and well with miraculous water which has healing powers are located nearby the chapel.

What deserves a particular attention inside the chapel is the 18th century copy of Our Lady of Częstochowa. The painting was crowned in 1995 with the crowns blessed by Pope John Paul II. Four years later, John Paul II visited the sanctuary and the chapel. To commemorate this event, the monument of the pope was placed near the chapel.
