Lake Wigry
Local name: Jezioro Wigry
Lake Wigry is located in the Wigry National Park, in the woods of the Augustów Primeval Forest, not far from the village of Magdalenka. Since 1975 it has been on the list of the "Aqua" Project, which includes the most valuable water bodies in the world. It is also part of the John Paul II canoe trail.
It is a perfect place for summer recreation. You can swim and canoe here. Due to the announcement of the lake, the so-called In the "quiet zone" it is forbidden to use motorboats. There are campsites and campsites on the shores of the reservoir. You can also fish here - 26 species of fish live here, including pike and trout.
It is the fifth deepest and tenth largest lake in Poland. Its average depth is 15 m, but the maximum is 74 m. There are 19 islands and numerous peninsulas on the lake, the longest of which - Wysoki Wągieł - is 4 km long.
