Steam Foundation Netherlands
Local name: Stoom Stichting Nederland
Museum steam station in Rotterdam under the care of the Steam Foundation Netherlands, which deals with the maintenance and renovation of historic steam-powered transport tools and equipment, mainly locomotives. The foundation has been operating since 1976, and the museum was founded in 1998. Trips are organized here under the supervision of a professional guide.
The museum is in an old shed for locomotives at Rotterdam North Goods railway station. The building has been preserved in a classic style, and its interior has been adapted to the exhibition requirements. Here, on five tracks, impressive locomotives are exhibited, maintained and renewed by the foundation, which also deals with the acquisition of old machines. In the museum we will find out how the renovation process is going, see collector's locomotives, and learn about the structure of the train station from the inside. After sightseeing, the foundation invites you to visit a store where you will find not only souvenirs from the trip, but also local coffee or delicacies.
