Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen

Local name: Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen

The Museum Boijmans Van Beringen was established in 1841. A few years later, it took over the private collection of the lawyer FJO Boijmans (1767-1847), who donated works of painting, drawing, graphics and artistic crafts. Currently, the museum's collection has over 120,000 exhibits, including the works of the greatest masters - Hubert and Jan van Eyck, Hieronimus Bosch, Pieter Bruegel Starszrgo, Titian, Veronese, Rubens, Van Gogh.

In 2008, on the occasion of the 160th anniversary, the museum was divided into two collections. The first includes painting, sculpture and artistic craftsmanship from the Middle Ages to the present day, the second mainly includes drawings and graphics - works requiring special exposure conditions, due to the fragility of the material and dyes used.

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is one of the largest and most modern in the Netherlands. It is based in a modernist building located in the Museum Park - a vast area in the center of Rotterdam, with several different museum facilities.
