Prehistoric Village
Local name: PreHistorisch Dorp
The Prehistoric Village is a historic open-air museum, which is part of the Eindhoven Museum. You can learn about six historical eras here - from prehistory to the 80-year war. This place is one of the 10 most child-friendly Dutch museums in the Netherlands. Picnics and family events take place here, the museum also offers numerous educational programs adapted to different age groups.
You can learn about everyday life from hundreds of years ago. Employees offer cooking lessons on open fires, medieval games and workshops (e.g. sailing or archery). Numerous reconstructions, demonstrations and craft lessons take place here. You can also sleep in huts and farms.
The museum was founded in 1982 by a group of teachers. During the first 10 years, a village was built, which in 1995 became a place of experiment - a small group of volunteers returned to life for a while in the Iron Age. Since 2016, the open-air museum is officially called the Prehistoric Village.
