The 9 Streets
Local name: De 9 Straatjes
Nine Little Streets (De 9 Straatjes) is one of the hottest addresses in Amsterdam. The quarter within the Old Town houses designer clothing and accessories stores, expensive boutiques and antique stores.
The name of the place comes from its location. It extends over the area of a rectangle consisting of four channels, which are crossed by three streets. Each of the sections between the canals has a different name, which gives a total of nine short, narrow streets. They are built with houses from the 18th and 19th centuries. Shops and cafes operate on the ground floors.
On Nine Little Streets there are mainly small shops run by designers and designers. They sell clothing, handbags, jewelry and other accessories. There are also atmospheric bookstores and small handicraft shops. The vast majority of items sold here are handmade by independent artists. Thanks to this, the things bought here are unique.
