Museum Het Schip
Local name: Museum Het Schip
The exhibition of the Het Schip Museum in Amsterdam is devoted to the Amsterdam School (architectural style referring to expressionism), the building that houses the museum is a perfect example of this trend (designed by Michel de Klerk). You can also see a collection of furniture here.
The museum's headquarters is one of three buildings that once served as residential homes for local workers. Initially, the complex belonged to one of Amsterdam's housing cooperatives. The buildings were called "palaces for workers" and were definitely different from other such facilities in the country and even in the world.
The exhibition shows the conditions in which workers lived in the 1920s, it also contains detailed information about the building itself and the characteristics of the style represented by the Amsterdam School.
