Foam

Local name: Foam

The photography museum located on the Keizersgracht canal, in a nineteenth-century building, which in the years 1863-1994 housed the Fodor Museum (opened by Carel Joseph Fodor and presenting paintings from his private collection). Then there was the Dutch Design Institute, which in 2001 gave way to Foam.

Every year, the museum organizes 4 large exhibitions of photographers whose works deserve special attention. In addition, as part of shorter exhibitions, works of young, promising artists or photographs are presented, which constitute a significant commentary on reality. Preparing exhibitions, Foam focuses primarily on documentary, artistic and glamor photography.

Since 2007, Foam has awarded the Paul Hufa for talented artists under 35 years old. The museum publishes its own international magazine, Foam Magazine, appearing 3 times a year. He also organizes photography courses and workshops.
