The San Simeone Piccolo church, also called San Simeone e Giuda, is located on the Grand Canal in Venice, opposite the train station. This is a typical example of neoclassical construction, it is one of the first of its kind in Italy. The marble bas relief of the 17th century by Francesco Penso "il Cabianca" depicts the martyrdom of the saints.
The church of San Simeone Piccolo was one of the last ones built in Venice. It was built in the years 1718-1738 according to the design of Giovanni Antonia Scalfarotto. The shape of the temple, and especially the chancel located at the front, was modeled on the Pantheon. The dome resembles an improved version of the church of Santa Maria della Salute. Inside, there are numerous chapels, characteristic of the post-Tridentine model.
