The Ponte delle Guglie Bridge is located over the Cannaregio Canal near the Grand Canal. It is the only bridge in Venice that is decorated with spiers and is supported on just one arch. The current name of the bridge comes from these spiers - in Italian guglie means just towers.
Originally, the Cannari Bridge built in 1285 was made of wood. It was only at the end of the 16th century that it was replaced by the current stone bridge.
Already in 1823 it was necessary to rebuild it. In 1987, it underwent renovation, thanks to which it was adapted to the needs of people with disabilities, and part of its surface was replaced with stone.
