The Palatine Museum (Museo Palatino) is located on the Palatine Hill in Rome. This is a small institution that has collected very valuable objects from archaeological excavations carried out in this area. You can see here, among others sculptures, mosaic fragments, frescoes. From the top of the hill there is a view of the Roman Forum and the surrounding area.
The most valuable souvenirs come from the period between the 1st and 4th century AD Palatine is one of the seven Roman hills. It was here that the first Roman settlement existed - Roma quadrata. Beautiful imperial palaces were erected on the hill since the reign of Octavian Augustus. An impressive fortress of the Frangipani family stood here in the Middle Ages.
Palatine is also associated with a well-known legend, according to which in the local cave the she-wolf fed Romulus and Remus - the twins who founded Rome.
