Chiesa di San Sebastiano al Palatino is an ancient church built in the 10th century. In the apse there are frescoes that depict Christ in the surroundings of Saint. Wawrzyniec, Szczepan and Sebastian.
According to legend, the temple was built in the place of martyrdom of St. Sebastian (hence the name). According to the results of archaeological research, the temple of Elagabalium had previously been here, in which the Roman deity Sol Invictus, or the Invincible Sun, was worshiped.
The so-called palladion - a statue of the goddess Athena. That is why in historical sources the name "Santa Maria in Pallara" appears in reference to the church.
The building's current appearance is due to the reconstruction and renovation of 1624, the work was initiated by Pope Urban VIII. The facade of the church is very modest, almost has no decorations.
