The Rome Museum in the Trastevere district (Museo di Roma in Trastevere) presents an interesting ethnological exhibition showing everyday life in Rome from the eighteenth to the early twentieth century. One of the most valuable objects is the watercolor "Roma sparita" by Ettore Roesler Franz.

Visitors can see interior reconstructions, antique furniture and paintings. Recreated here, incl. tavern and pharmacy. Mannequins present costumes specific to a particular era.

The museum's headquarters is in the former Carmelite monastery. The institution was founded in the 1970s, originally the exhibition was devoted to Renaissance poets and their work (Museo del Folklore e dei Poeti Romaneschi).

The museum organizes today numerous temporary exhibitions, and in the summer months in the courtyard you can watch performances and listen to concerts.
